Spring Break
Emily’s home from school this week, which is great for all of us. We had a lot of fun this past weekend by walking to the farmer’s market, working in our garden, watching movies, and having meals with some of our friends. I’m trying to take the opportunity of Emily being home to get a decent amount of my own work done that is hanging over my head. I’m finishing up a methods...

Weird Comments in the Aquarium
Hey everyone, sorry I just now realized there were a ton of your comments frozen in internet-space! That would explain why Emily and I haven’t been commenting back! For some reason I never got an email letting me know you all commented. Anyways, I think I’ve fixed the issue. Thank you all for reading and thanks for your comments, thoughts, prayers, and random pieces of whatever you...

3 Months, Geez You're Old!
Today L turned three months old (3.19). She’s very healthy, happy, well-loved, and learning how to stuff things in her mouth. What more could you ask for? Ah, well I think she has one suggestion, how about not going to get your shots on your monthly birthday? Yes, she had to get the last batch of her first round of immunization shots today. Boy, was I nervous for her! But she did a great...

Week One @ Daddy Day Care
This past week has been a busy week! There is a whole assortment of ways to explain that last five days: they were an absolute blast, they were really humorous moments of watching L do silly things, and there were moments of watching me (not-so-gracefully) try and figure out what the heck I’m doing.  The past week was really stressful, it was a TON of work, and it was hectic. But all in all...

Bottlefeeding Breastfed Babies →
L is still pretty sketchy about the whole bottle thing, yesterday she ate less than the day before, which was less than the day before that. Sooo, hopefully she will take a turn for the better here pretty soon. At this point she’s basically holding out for the time when Emily gets home. Anyways, I found the link above to be a nice, helpful guide on some things to try with L in getting her to...

Bean Sprouts: The Self Sufficientish Bible →
I just ran across Bean Sprouts a family oriented “green” blog, it looks pretty interesting and I look forward to reading it a little more. But I ran across this post, and it made me wonder, why is it that “practical advice” on a blog almost always seems to mean “buy this book?” It’s really frustrating. In what other day and age did we have to pay for the...

Success (for a day)
Well our first day went very well! Thanks to all of you who were praying for us! L ate at 10:30 and 2:30; both times she was very hungry and took the bottle without much fuss. Actually, the second bottle was a little more of a struggle, but finally her hunger overpowered her stubbornness.  We also did bath time, walked to the coffee shop, and cleaned up the house.  That was about it. The day went...

Returning from L-a-Day
Emily’s a ninth grade english teacher and has had the great opportunity to take 3 months off of work so she could be at home and care for our newly born daughter (L). Tomorrow marks her return from a wonderful holiday.  Since I am a student have a more flexible schedule (read, get a real job!), I am not taking any classes this quarter and will be staying home to take care of L. I’ve...

weird fishes escape
Emily and I are joining forces to bring you the best in resources and essays on family life. We’ll be looking at alternative ways of living in our contemporary global society. Some of our main topics will be focused on green issues, food, parenting, urban and creative living, and faith and culture.   In December, Emily gave birth to our daughter LL, and this little girl loves Radiohead and...
