And she's off...

On her 14th month birthday (2/19) L had what I called a “break out walking day.” Which basically meant we saw a new determination in her for walking on her own. She was only taking a few solo steps here and there but it was definitely a change. Since then she’s been very determined to walk everywhere she can holding onto one of our fingers. That is until yesterday. Emily said L was walking all over the place on her own. I didn’t get to witness it until today when I took her outside for a walk with her “trolley.” Today she was not interested in having help walking, she wanted to do it on her own. So she ditched the cart and took off. I lost count of how many steps she took and for the next 45 minutes or so we just hung out walking out. She’d grab onto things, tumble, get up, and keep going. These are exciting times.

First Try at a Dark Chocolate Mocha Smoothie

Sorry, no picture. I wanted to drink it before I thought to post a recipe!

Serves 2.5

1 cup espresso from a mukka express (without the steamed milk) or something like it.

1 cup milk

Fill blender about half-full with ice

4 tablespoons of (hot) chocolate mocha power. We used some of our ghirardelli hot chocolate.

1 Dark chocolate bar

Shred a little dark chocolate into the blender with the milk, ice and powder. Then do up the espresso and when its done chuck that in the blender with the rest of the ingredients. Liquify that stuff until its a texture your mouth will enjoy. If you want shred a little more chocolate bar over your drink when you done with a microplane.
